Premarital counseling

It is not often you find a wedding officiant who is also licensed to provide counseling. Dr. McFadden is a licensed marriage and family therapist with more than 50,000 hours of counseling couples, and he wants to set you up for success in your married life.

Why couples come before the wedding

Premarital counseling brings a better understanding of your future spouse, better ways to communicate with each other, and a lower divorce rate.

It helps you find the differences in outlook, personality and background that can set couples up for conflict, and gives you the chance to talk through topics that could cause trouble down the road: finances, how to get along with in-laws, and how to disagree in a healthy way.

With good premarital counseling you develop healthy patterns for resolving conflict, set goals for your relationship, and learn the most common challenges couples face, so you start building a strong foundation now. Don’t wait until there is a problem.

His program

  • Five planned sessions
  • The Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis
  • The FOCCUS Pre-Marriage Inventory
  • Finances, in-laws and healthy disagreement
  • The common challenges of marriage, and how to handle them

The five planned sessions are $750. Churches and other officiants refer couples to him for this program, and parents or grandparents often give it as a gift.
